VB WAMS! "Visual Basic Version of the Windows Azure Mobile Services-Generated Quickstart"

Visual Studio Gallery - Visual Basic Version of the Windows Azure Mobile Services-Generated Quickstart

To provide interim support for VB developers, this Windows Store app sample in Visual Studio 2012 is an equivalent Visual Basic project for the project that is currently generated by the Windows Azure Mobile Services quickstart in the Windows Azure Management Portal.

Windows Azure Mobile Services is a Windows Azure service offering designed to make it easy to create highly-functional mobile apps using Windows Azure. Mobile Services brings together a set of Windows Azure services that enable backend capabilities for mobile apps. Mobile Services provides a rich programming model, including client libraries for devices, a JavaScript library for server-side business logic, and REST APIs.

Note: In this preview release, Mobile Services only supports Windows Store app development.

Why This Sample?

This Windows Store app sample in Visual Studio 2012 is an equivalent Visual Basic project for the project that is currently generated by the Windows Azure Mobile Services quickstart in the Windows Azure Management Portal. You can see how this works (for C# and JavaScript projects) by completing the Get started with Mobile Services tutorial.

Note: To complete the tutorial, you need a Windows Azure account that has the Windows Azure Mobile Services feature enabled. You can create a free trial account and enable preview features in just a couple of minutes. For details, see Create a Windows Azure account and enable preview features.

While I'm trying to move more of my brain cells over to C#, VB still has a special place in my heart...
