TechNet Articles - Windows To Go Step by Step
Introduction
New to windows 8 is a feature called "Windows to go".
Windows to go allows you to run windows on USB device such as
USB stick or USB hard drive.Table of Contents
Before you begin
- Have a USB 3.0 drive that reports as fixed.
- Note: Most USB flash drives do not report as fixed and are not performant enough for Windows To Go
- Have a host system with Windows 8 client installed (should have two free drive letters, preferably S and W).
- A Windows 8 .wim file (can be from install media or a captured custom image).
Step by Step guide on building Windows To Go
I'm kind of hoping to find an easier, i.e. a click-click-click, means of setting up a Windows To Go USB stick, but in the mean time I've not seen any other guides yet, so this one currently wins... ;)
