Code samples for "Programming Windows, 6th Edition" updated for Windows 8 Release Preview & Visual Studio 2012 RC (and you also get C++ versions too)

Microsoft Press - Updated sample code for Programming Windows, Sixth Edition (Consumer Preview edition)

"Greetings. This is a quick note to let you know that Charles Petzold has updated his sample code for Programming Windows, Sixth Edition (Consumer Preview edition) against the Visual Studio 2012 Release Candidate.

You’ll find a single ZIP file via the Companion Content link on the book’s catalog page. In the ZIP file you’ll find two subfolders: the ConsumerPreview folder contains the sample code as we originally released it on May 17, and the ReleasePreview folder contains the sample code as updated by Charles since the release of updated software last week." You did get this when it was only $10, right? Well if not, you can get it this month for $20 (which is still a great deal).

Here's a snip from the \Readme.txt

These directories contain sample code from the 7 chapters of "Programming Windows" 6th edition Consumer Preview eBook, published by Microsoft Press and released May 17, 2012.

The code in the ConsumerPreview directory was developed for the Windows 8 Consumer Preview (Build 8250) using Microsoft Visual Studio 11 Express Beta for Windows 8. These projects match the program listings in Consumer Preview eBook.

The code in the ReleasePreview directory was updated for the Windows 8 Release Preview (Build 8400) using Microsoft Visual Studio Express 2012 RC for Windows 8.

Although the code examples in "Programming Windows" 6th edition Consumer Preview eBook use C# exclusively, I have also translated the sample programs to C++.

Each of the two directories has its own readme.txt file with further details.
