Date published: 1/14/2013The SQLCMD utility allows users to connect to, send Transact-SQL batches from, and output rowset information from SQL Server instances. The bcp utility bulk copies data between an instance of Microsoft SQL Server and a data file in a user-specified format. The bcp utility can be used to import large numbers of new rows into SQL Server tables or to export data out of tables into data files.
You all know that SQL Server support for OLE DB is End of Life'ing, right? Microsoft is Aligning with ODBC for Native Relational Data Access? Any while we don't need to get all crazy today, these updated drivers/redist might come in handy in the coming months/years.
And having the command line tools in their only MSI is also really handy....
