Who was your "First" President?

Who was your "First" President?

The first president that you identified with? The first one you first voted for? The one the first touched you? The first one that made you proud to be an American?

Yesterday, my "First" President passed away...

As I left home-cut flowers at the Reagan Presidential Library yesterday afternoon I thought about how one man, one I've never met or even seen in person, could effect me so emotionally.

I realized he was my "first" president. I entered true adulthood with him as president. Was part of his building up of our nation's strength while in the Army. I felt the nation's awakening as it emerged from under the cloud that was Vietnam and the Carter years. It was like we finally woke up from a bad dream...

"President Reagan, you made me proud to be an American.

Thank you

God bless you and Mrs. Reagan"

The 46 Best-ever Freeware Utilities

The 46 Best-ever Freeware Utilities

"There are a lot of great freeware programs out there. Many are as good or even better than their commercial alternatives.

This is my personal selection of the best of the best. I've used every single product in this list and find each to be a gem. Of course other folks may differ but, hey, this is MY selection ;>)

All these utilities have been featured in past issues of Support Alert newsletter. More freebies are featured in every new issue.

In this latest update there are actually 54 utilities but this report will still be called now and forever "the best-ever 46 freeware utilities." Go figure:>)

Note: "Free" in this context means free for non-commercial or home use. Some products are also free for commercial use but I suggest you check out the licensing details of individual products before making that assumption. "

Free is my fav... I use and have blogged about some of these, others are new to me.

OT: Microsoft granted patent for double-click

ActiveWin.com - The Most Activated Windows Resource

"Microsoft has been granted a patent on the double-click by the US Patents and Trademark Office. The patent, number 6,727,830, was granted on April 27. An abstract of the application says: "A method and system are provided for extending the functionality of application buttons on a limited resource computing device. Alternative application functions are launched based on the length of time an application button is pressed. A default function for an application is launched if the button is pressed for a short, i.e., normal, period of time"

Isn't this getting a little out of hand?

Update: MS's patent was actually pretty focused on handhelds, and different types of clicks, pushes, holds, etc... So your mouse is safe :)

Nice. The SDK doc's are in both HTML and as a CHM.

The samples seem a little limited, but still free is pretty good...
