3rd Annual Simi Valley Freedom Walk – See you there…

Thank you for your past participation. We hope you will join us again this year on September 11, 2008 at 5:00 p.m. for our third annual America Supports You 9/11 Freedom Walk. This event honors a national tradition of remembrance of the lives lost on September 11, 2001 and pays tribute to the men and women in uniform who continue to protect our freedom. Last year over 135 Freedom Walks were held. The Reagan Library, in partnership with MilitaryConnection.com, is proud to be the official Freedom Walk for Simi Valley, California.

A short program will be held in the Reagan Library’s main courtyard prior to the walk with the following keynote speakers:

Colonel James B. Seaton III, Commanding Officer of the Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton Brad Burlingame, brother of Captain Charles Frank Burlingame, III who lost his life when American Airlines flight 77 was hijacked and flown into the Pentagon

Army Sergeant Neil Duncan [GD: No relation, beyond us both being rock’en, Army Duncan’s], a Wounded Warrior who was severely injured in Afghanistan on December 5, 2005 when an improvised explosive device (IED) ripped through his Humvee, causing the loss of both his legs

All program participants and guests will then embark on a 1.8 mile walk which concludes at the Rancho Madera Community Park. Patriotic music, snacks and beverages will await you when you arrive at the park. Complimentary shuttles will return you to your cars at the Reagan Library.

In addition, as the program and the walk are open to the public, please feel free to let your friends, family and colleagues know about this memorable event.
