And Another One Bytes the Dust.. Asheron's Call 2 Closing

Asheron's Call 2 > Closing Asheron's Call 2

"Closing Asheron's Call 2
Dear AC2 subscribers,

In spite of our hard work and the launch of Legions, AC2 has reached the point where it no longer makes sense to continue the service. We will be officially closing the Asheron's Call 2 service on 12/30/05. Until then, we plan to run live events, but we will not be adding any content or features.

We deeply appreciate the many dedicated fans of AC2 who have stood by us over the years. You have our sincerest gratitude. ..."

And there goes another MMORPG... Interesting that AC1 will live past AC2.

I played AC2 for its first year (and AC1 for three), and while I liked it and REALLY liked Turbine's monthly content and update releases, it still felt like playing a year long beta.

But that said, I am still planing on trying out their D&D Online and LOTR Online. I have to wonder though at the viability of Turbine. I'm sure they spent a good bit of money buy AC1/AC2 from MS and on the AC2 expansion pack they JUST released...

Then again, sometimes you need tough love. Given that there were probably three or four people left playing AC2, it made sense to cut their losses.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Turbine and hope this closure ends up being a good thing for them.
