Managed Addin Framework (MAF) Screencast Follow-up - If thinking about adding Addin/Plugin support to your .Net application then you need to watch these two screencasts by Daniel Moth...
A couple days ago I posted about a couple Managed Addin Framework (MAF) screencasts by Daniel Moth (.Net 3.5 Managed Addin Framework Screencasts by Daniel Moth). As I mentioned I had hoped to watch them on the train to the Launch event yesterday... Well I didn't. I watched them on the way home from the event... ;)
And let me tell you, if you're on the fence or interested in the new .Net 3.5 System.Addin capability, then take a few minutes can watch them. Now. In 36 minutes (18 minutes each, Managed AddIn Framework & Version Resilience in the Managed AddIn Framework) you'll get a new appreciation for the coolness that is System.Addin. And if you're like me, get a hankering to throw out your current cheesy home grown plugin implementation and do it "right" with System.Addin.
In part 2, Version Resilience in the Managed AddIn Framework, he'll also help you understand why it seems so complicated at first glance. Why there seem to be so many parts, projects, views, adapters, etc.
He also talks about, and quickly demo's, the MAF Codeplex project and Pipeline builder utility (that I talked about here, Managed Extensibility and Add-In Framework CodePlex Project - Meet .Net 3.5 System.Addin and Friends)
In the end, I think the most telling point is that Microsoft is dogfooding MAF. They are using it in their own products... Which means, I hope, that MAF will have a long and healthy release life time.
