If you have written an .NET app that takes command line arguments, the shell will send you Short Path names rather than Long Path names. Unfortunatley there is no built in way to go back and forth between the two. Short Path Name is the 8 character cryptic meaningless name that is used on older filesystems that can't handle long file names."
