Visual Studio 2010 Beta 1 available to MSDN subscribers tomorrow, Monday, May 18th, says Microsoft Australia Blogger

From Jihad Dannawi (Microsoft Australia) - Visual Studio 2010 Beta 1 available for the MSDN subscribers on Monday May 18th

“On Monday, May 18th, Visual Studio 2010 Beta 1 (Professional, Suite and Team Foundation Server) will be available to MSDN Subscribers through MSDN Subscriber Downloads and to the general public on Wednesday, May 20th through Microsoft Downloads.

…”

While, based on information I may have heard while helping out at TechEd, I cannot confirm nor deny this, since this bit of information is coming from a source inside Microsoft I felt it was okay note it… YMMV, dates are subject to change, etc, etc.

It also jives with what Mary Jo Foley already mentioned.

VS2010 Team System is a monster release and one that will impact just about every developer and tester (in a good way). Now is the time to start looking at it and thinking about how you can take advantage of all its goodness when it ships.

One thing to note, it’s been publically stated that Microsoft is already working hard on Beta 2 and that some of what you see in Beta 1 will be different in Beta 2 (which is as it should be and to be expected… “beta” is the keyword here… ;)

Hey Athman, I'm not a Microsoft employee, but will answer as I can...

1) I don't know how if VS2010 will be available via the academic MSDN or not. Guessing though, I'd say it's pretty likely that some version of vs2010 will be available. Also given that the OP stated that it's going to be available to the world on the 20th, you'll at least be able to get it then...

2) The TechEd session links are protected and only available to those you went to TechEd. So while I DID look into a building my own TechEd "list" I felt that since many of my readers wouldn't be able to view them, that it just didn't make much sense. It would be a tease to give you all the list, but then since you might not have attended, not be able to view the video's...

3) For Windows 7 details, the best bet would be to visit the main Win7 page, http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/default.aspx4) The size of the download will depend on which if the three you look at. The OP stated that there will be three downloads, Professional, Suite and TFS. I'd bet the Suite version will be very like the PDC one (i.e. huge). The Professional version will likely be much smaller...

I hope this helps,
Greg
